The Law Enforcement Torch Run committee is selling raffle tickets to raise money for the upcoming State Run for Special Olympics.
The Region 19 area of the Special Olympics of Texas (SOTX) Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) committee is comprised of officers from several law enforcement agencies from the El Paso area that include the El Paso Police Department, the El Paso Sheriff's Department, multiple federal agencies, current and retired members of the US Armed Forces and numerous civilian volunteers. This year they have a total of approximately 20+ officers/agents that have taken the challenge to raise awareness for Special Olympics by carrying the Torch of Hope across the state of Texas and deliver it in Arlington, TX in time for the opening ceremonies for the summer games. The officers/agents will begin on a journey in which they will relay run on a 24 hour basis for 5 days with the Special Olympics torch.
For this run, they utilize two donated RV’s in order to get the LETR running team to Arlington, TX. However, they must raise their own fuel money. Hence, the raffle.
This year the LETR committee is raffling off two guns: a Glock 21 (45 cal) and a Ruger 380 LCP or a cash option of $300 or $200 in lieu of the guns. Please contact any of the following committee members to purchase a $5.00 dollar ticket. The raffle will be held on Saturday May 10th, 2014 and the winners need not be present to win.
