"Badges vs. Badges" Traveling Trophy |
|
On August 2, 2014, a team of current and retired El Paso Police Officers participated in the Inaugural “Badges vs. Badges” Shotgun Shootout. The event, a competition featuring members from local public safety agencies was held at the El Paso Skeet and Trap Club.
Each department was to have six; five-person teams compete against members of opposing departments with the highest score from the total combined scores from all six teams determining the champion. Each 5-person team shot at 25 targets from 16-yards and then at 25 targets from earned handicap yardage.
Some minor changes were made to the format of the competition which featured teams from the El Paso Police Department, El Paso Fire Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
When all was said and done, an El Paso Police Department Team won the competition. The winning squad was comprised of members Ken Law, Dusty Liston, Brad Stelton, Louie Cortinas and Matt Kennedy. Along with the prize, a traveling trophy, come team pride and bragging rights, at least until the next competition! In fact, not only did Team EPPD have the top squad but also the second highest scoring squad! Partial proceeds raised from the event went to each department’s charity of choice.
Here is a list of members who represented Team EPPD: Active Officers: Chief Greg Allen; Asst. Chief Pete Pacillas; Asst. Chief Michelle Gardner; Chris Mears; Mike Baranyay; John Cataldi; Gerd Ramm; Joe Hicks; Robert Ferniza; Dusty Liston; Ken Law; Krandell Chew; Ray Chavez; Jeremy Poust; Brad Stelton; Robert Pisarcik; Matt Kennedy; Joseph Valenzuela; Vico Granillo and Robert Cano.
