The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association held an election last week for the office of First Vice President (Executive Board - Class I Director).
The election for 1st VP, conducted via online electronic voting at www.epmpoa.org, was the only election needed during the even-years election cycle. Candidates for the other offices or Director positions were either unopposed or not-contested.
Here are the results:
-Michael Short: 189
-Henry Rivera: 111
The voting results will be certified at the Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. A sincere "Thank You" goes out to those who took the time to vote in this important election.
Congratulations to Michael (Mike) Short, who will become the new First Vice President. He will join the other Class I and Class II Directors who were nominated and/or were unopposed in this year's (even-years) election cycle.
Addressing the voting results, Michael Short stated, "Good race, Henry. Thank you for a clean campaign and your service during your term, brother." Henry Rivera, the current First Vice President, responded by congratulating Mike.
The following persons will serve a 2-year term beginning in October: Secretary Randy Rodriguez; Treasurer Mark Campos; Region II (MVRC) Director Joe Olvera; Region IV (NERC) Directors Danny Conway and Arturo Flores; and Region VI (Headquarters) Directors Otto Herrera, Robert Gomez and Jorge Estrada.
