The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association extends its deepest condolences to the famiy, colleagues and friends of Police Dispatcher Margarita "Margie" Tamayo Garcia #C880. Margie, her son Jorge "Richie" Garcia, age 19 and her one year old Granddaughter Kamila Juarez, were killed around 10:30 AM on Saturday morning when the family's mini-van was hit by a truck that for unknown reasons crossed into their lane, hitting them head-on. The crash happened on US 62/180 approximately 50 miles west of Orla, Texas in Culberson County. The family was headed to Carlsbad Caverns.
Margie had worked as a Public Safety Dispatcher with the City of El Paso for approximately 22 years.
A "Celebration of Life" Service honoring the lives of Margie, Richie and Kamila will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM (Service at 4:00 PM) at San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Drive.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral costs and other expenses.
