Dear EPMPOA Members,
I am resending the below information that will take affect this year on September 1, 2013.
Facts about Compensatory Time in lieu of overtime for Holidays that was adopted with the August 2009 MOU:
· The time has come for all of you who still have some Comp Time, over 120 hrs, you obtained during the MOU to starting utilizing it before you lose it. The MOU stated that the maximum accrual of comp time (Normal Comp Time and Police Holiday Accrual) could not exceed 180 hrs combined.
· As of September 1, 2012 (last year) if you had over 120 Hours of combined Comp Time you cannot put in for anymore Comp Time until you fall below the 120 hour mark. You can only put in for Overtime!
· All members have until September 1, 2013 (this year) to fall below the 120 hours mark of combined Comp Time or you will face forfeiture of any hours over 120 hours.
· Supervisors should avoid denial of such requests for Comp Time because after three consecutive times the member will be paid for the denied Comp Time! Every effort should be made to allow officers to take their compensatory time.
- Please submit for the Comp Time in Police Manager to document the approval or denial, so payment can be made if necessary or a pattern of denial can be shown. Verbal agreements are not acceptable for leave requests.
Thank you,
Ron Martin
