The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association will hold its annual Installation and Service Awards Party and Dance on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Memorial Hall, 3601 Rutherglen St. The evening will start at 6:30 PM with a social gathering featuring cocktails and finger foods.
This year’s event is dedicated in memory of fallen Officer David Ortiz, who died in the line of duty on March 14, 2016 as a result of a traffic collision. It is only fitting that Officer Ortiz be honored posthumously as the Association’s Member of the Year.
At approximately 8:00 PM, President Ron Martin will deliver his welcoming address followed by the Invocation by Chaplain Sam Faraone.
Next, in addition to the “Member of the Year” award, which will be presented to Officer Ortiz's family, the Association will present its other top awards and its Service Awards to members for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service to the community, as members of the EPMPOA.
Then, the incoming Executive Board will be installed. These Officers and Directors were elected or ran unopposed and will serve a two-year term to represent members at their respective regions, but in reality serve to assist and represent all members. These are the incoming Executive Board Class I and Class II Directors:
- First Vice President: Michael Short
- Secretary: Randy Rodriguez
- Treasurer: Mark Campos
- Region II (MVRC): Joe Olvera
- Region IV (NERC) Danny Conway and Arturo Flores; and
- Region VI: Otto Herrera, Robert Gomez and Jorge Estrada
Sometime during the evening the EPMPOA will open up the 25 Year Time Capsule that was buried on the hall property sometime around May of 1991. Perhaps some special guests will be in attendance??
After all of the awards and kudos are handed out, the evening will continue with dancing to the Brian Mars Band and to the disco, with a great variety of music played by the Deejay until 1:00 AM. We hope to see you there!
Congratulations to everyone who is receiving an award! We hope that you will be able to attend and receive it in person. Members receiving an award as well as their spouse and/or immediate family members can attend for free! This year there is no need to call and make reservations, all we ask is that you arrive on time so that you can sit with your entire party.
The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association, “Serving Those Dedicated to Serve and Protect.”
