ELECTIONS 2012
The election season is just about upon us, with the Primary Election scheduled for May 29, 2012. I hope that you are registered to vote, and more importantly, that you will do your civic duty and go to the polls along with your family members to cast your votes! The early voting period is from May 14 – 25. Some races drew several candidates so there are bound to be some runoffs. The Primary Runoff Election will be held on July 31, 2012.
You may have asked, why are we voting a little later than usual this year? Well, it all has to do with the redistricting plans which needed to be worked out prior to this year’s elections. Without those changes, there could have been obvious political implications for those area candidates running for the United States House of Representatives, the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas State Senate. Until that issue was ironed out, the elections were put on hold. The necessary adjustments have been made, and as per provisions of the Texas Election Code, the 2012 elections are good to go.
Now that the election dates are set, we can concentrate on re-electing our supported candidates or try to get our candidates elected into office. The Coalition of Public Safety, of which the EPMPOA PAC Committee belongs, is proud to announce its endorsements. Please download the COPS endorsements and support the listed candidates. For additional information, visit the Endorsement/Elections portion of the EPMPOA website. It is still a work in progress as we are working feverishly to try to get you as much information as possibly about the candidates and their respective websites and/or social media sites.
We are trying to make it as easy as possible for our members to have election information at their fingertips. Also included are documents containing information on early voting sites, mobile voting sites, and actual polling places for Election Day. So, if you recently moved, or became registered for the first time and are looking to see at which precinct you should vote, download the attachments.
