EPMPOA
All officers and supervisors,
On Thursday the Association once again had a meeting with the City of El Paso on the Pay Scales issues in hopes of resolving the problem, unfortunately nothing was agreed upon. During the meeting, the City had the audacity to make a comment that they now think officers and supervisors make too much money. The errors in the City's calculations have been pointed out to them during several meetings and e-mails since May of 2011, and now they have stated that they did make massive mistakes, and as such we get paid too much money.
In two weeks, five members of the Association and five members of the City of El Paso will meet in one last attempt to resolve this matter before legal proceedings are begun. The pay scales for 2011 and 2012 are both in question, so the pay scale that was recently released and implemented on June 1, 2012 is not correct. Many of you may have noticed that only supervisors received a pay raise and officers did not. A warning to supervisors, the City of El Paso believes that their calculations are wrong and you (supervisors) should not have received a pay raise. An error either way on the City's part could cost millions to correct. Since May of 2011 the Association has been warning them of the errors and now they are concerned. I will keep all members informed as we go forward in this matter.
Thank you,
Ron Martin
