Labor Union Leader Chris McGill Passes Away

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association is very sad to announce that former EPMPOA President and long time member, Chris McGill, passed away on August 29, 2012 at the age of 54.

Mr. McGill, immediate Past President of CLEAT, was a Field Representative for CLEAT until the very end.  McGill, a well known labor union leader for many years, retired from the El Paso Police Department in February 2010 after almost 27 years of service to the El Paso community!

The EPMPOA asks that you please keep the entire McGill family and his very large police family in your prayers.

Funeral services for Chris McGill will take place as follows:

Services will begin on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Martin Funeral Home, 3839 Montana Ave., at 1:15 PM with a motorcade to Ft. Bliss National Cemetery (West Pavilion) for a graveyard service.

-Graveside service:
 Friday September 7, 2012
  2:00 PM (Approximately)
 Fort Bliss Cemetery (West Pavilion)
 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue
 El Paso, TX  79906

-Celebration of Life Service

 Saturday September 8, 2012
 4:00 – 8:00 PM
 El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association Memorial Hall
 3601 Rutherglen St.
 El Paso, TX  79925

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Officers Memorial Foundation, 400 West 14th Street, Suite 200, Austin, Texas78701

To all who participated in Chris McGill’s funeral,

On behalf of the Chief’s Office, as well as many other agencies, and most importantly the McGill family, we want to thank each and every officer and civilian for your professionalism and your representation of not only our Department but our profession.   Chris was a man who dedicated his life to serving not only his fellow citizens but also his fellow officers.  His dedication was a shining example of what it means “to serve”.  The Chief’s Office received several compliments as to the Department’s representation and respect for Chris and his family during this difficult time.  You all should be proud as you represented us well.
