Daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday.

The El Paso Municicpal Police Officers Association encourages the installation of new batteries and the manual testing of all smoke alarms at least two times a year, preferably at the beginning and end of daylight saving time. To check the operation of a smoke detector, simply press and hold the alarm’s “test” button. If it beeps, or rings loudly, it’s working properly.
