-VOTE NO ON ALL CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT CHANGES
On your mark! Get set! GO! – Early voting has begun and C.O.P.S (Coalition Of Public Safety) needs for you to get off your duff, drop the remote, shower later, take your coffee on the run, pick up as many family members as you can, and GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!!!
It is essential that you and your family vote. Your future depends on it. Contract year, 2014, is rapidly approaching therefore, we must ensure we have the right people in office. This community needs a City Council who is fair and free from all the hidden agendas and empty promises. A City Council who will return the voice to the people of this community while moving this city forward. A City Council that recognizes that their EMPLOYEES truly are the backbone of the workforce in this community.
Finally, a City Council who credits and respects their Police Department for what they do and who they are. Recognizing the fact the label of “THE SAFEST CITY” was a common goal for both entities. Recognizing the fact this feat was accomplished through hard work, determination and pride by those very officers viewed by some as greedy and selfish. Then that same Council brandishes the title for all to know, using the recognition to attract new businesses and people to our city while cutting back the budget behind the scenes.
I say enough is enough. Your vote is IMPORTANT, your family’s’ vote is IMPORTANT. Changes need to be made. This is the lowest manning table the Police Department has had in my thirty years of employment with the Department. What are you going to do about it? Are the veteran officers and retirees going to turn their back on the younger Officers? Are the younger Officers going to cast that all important vote for their future or entrust others to do so? Collectively, this entity can make a difference. We are not alone, our brethren in the Sheriff’s Department, Border Patrol and CLEAT believes we can. I believe we can. So make this thing happen and vote. We can allow all the work and progress made by those before us to simply disappear, or you can CAST YOUR VOTE to continue the progress which has made this Department a great place to join for those to come? YOU CALL IT. I know what I’m doing, I’m casting that all important vote! The vote is for the sake of our City, the Police Department and for the Civilian employees of this City.
