Executive Board – Class I Directors Election
Well, it’s that time of the year again…time to start looking at who may comprise some of the offices for the El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association for the next couple of years. As per Article VI of the bylaws, nominations for candidates for Executive Board-Class I Directors were held at the June 2013 General Membership meeting.
The following nominations were taken from the floor:
* President:
-Ron Martin (Incumbent), nominated by Melody Jordan #2452
-Adrian Pina, nominated by Otto Herrera #1667
* 1st Vice President:
-Henry Rivera (Incumbent), nominated by Mark Campos #2120
* 2nd Vice President:
-David Hernandez (Incumbent), nominated by John Sanchez #1967
* Secretary:
-Randy Rodriguez (Incumbent), nominated by Ray Valles #1806
* Treasurer:
-Mark Campos (Incumbent), nominated by Rick Prangner #2271
-Robert Cardenas, nominated by Saul Villalobos #2053
Subsequent to the nominations, the candidates were contacted and all of them accepted the nomination, to either serve or continue to serve a 2-year term to represent EPMPOA members.
Of the five positions up for election this year, three of them had only one person nominated. Since those candidates are unopposed they automatically win their respective office. Those positions are the 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents and the Secretary, congratulations! There will however have to be a department-wide election for the positions of President and Treasurer. The election, to be held by secret ballot, will take place on Friday, August 9, 2013. Absentee voting will be held four days prior to the election (08/5 – 8/8).
