Chief Allen Receives National Recognition for Leadership
Date/Time: 09-22 through 27, 2013
Location: NTOA Annual Conference – Kansas City Mo.
El Paso, TX – El Paso Police Chief Gregory K. Allen was recognized during the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) annual conference and awards ceremony this past September. The conference was held September 22-27, 2013 in Kansas City, Missouri and attended by Law Enforcement professionals from around the Country. Chief Allen was in attendance and accepted the first ever NTOA Excellence in Leadership Award. Executive Director Mark Lomax of the NTOA said, “Despite presiding over one of the top ten most poverty stricken cities in America located just across the border from Juarez, Mexico, Chief Greg Allen’s outstanding leadership earned El Paso the “Safest Major City in America” award in both 2010 and 2011. It was clear this accomplishment was unique, so we presented our first-ever Excellence in Leadership award to Chief Allen at our 30th annual awards banquet in Kansas City.” Chief Allen was nominated for this award by Lt. Dave Ransom of the El Paso Police Department. A quote from the nomination letter reads, “ It is his passion, vision and style that create an environment that draws the very best from others. He stands as an exemplar of dedication and professionalism.” In response to this award Chief Allen said, “To be recognized by an organization such as the NTOA in such a manner is a tremendous honor. This award is not my award but rather an award that was given in recognition of the dedicated service provided every day in the City of El Paso by the officers of the El Paso Police Department. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve such a wonderful community and department.”.
