Getting help during an emergency just got simpler.
El Paso County has added Text-to-911 as an additional way to request emergency assistance, according to the El Paso Fire Department.
Officials say the service should only be used when voice calling is not possible or if it would put the caller in danger.
Callers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impairments are encouraged to use Text-to-911.
