Police officer and her K-9 ready to start patrolling
Dec 03, 2023

Police officer Casandra Carrasco, right, receives her K-9 pin in a ceremony Wednesday at the El Paso Police Department headquarters. Carrasco, who became a police officer in September 2019, is the second female K-9 handler in the department’s history. The ceremony marked her graduation from the K-9 police academy. “I’ve always been interested in tactics, and I’ve always liked working with dogs,” she said. “So when a position became available, it was the best of both worlds.” She described her K-9, Tex, as loving and energetic. “I don’t think he has an off switch,” she said.
