On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, the El Paso Country Club Chapter of Optimist International held their annual awards ceremony.  At the event, Westside Regional Command Center Commander Steve Lopez was presented with the Law Enforcement Respect for Law - Officer of the Year Award.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association sadly announces the recent passing of retired Officer Clifford C. Gongaware #415, who passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2018 in Gulnare, Colorado at the age of 70.   (Ret.) Officer Gongaware served the El Paso community as a peace officer for 23+ years.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association is sponsoring a "Wing Drive" lunch to benefit Region III (PHRCC) Sergeant Joaquin Alvarado #2618 and his family.  This event is to raise money to assist them with expenses related to the recent tragic loss of their older son.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association invites members and their families and the general public to attend the graduation ceremony for the El Paso Police Department’s 124th Police Academy Class.  The event will take place on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 9:00 AM at the Bowie High School Auditorium, 801 S. San Marcial St.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association encourages all members to attend the El Paso Police Department's Promotion Ceremony on Monday, January 14, 2019.  The ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM in the large conference room at Police Headquarters, 911 N. Raynor St.

The autopsy of Richard Palafox, the man who died following an officer-involved shooting at the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center in October, states he was shot eight times.  "People are under this assumption that we can just stand back and shoot it out of their hand. that's not how we do it, said Ron Martin, president of the El Paso Municipal Police Officers Association.

A suspect was taken to University Medical Center after an officer-involved shooting in South-Central El Paso Wednesday night, police said. Authorities said two officers fired at a man after a family disturbance was reported just after 8 p.m. on the 500 block of Huerta Street. Police said the man charged at the officers with a knife.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association is sponsoring a "Wing Drive" lunch to benefit Region II (MVRCC) Officer Gilbert Sanchez #2278 and his family.  This event is to raise money to assist them with medical expenses and offer some financial assistance due to his wife Bonnie being out of work due to a medical issue.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association thanks its members and their family members who reside in District #1 and District #8 for voting in the City of El Paso Runoff Election on Saturday. Your votes helped to re-elect our City Council Representative friends, Peter Svarzbein and Cissy Lizarrraga. 

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association is hosting its Annual "Turkey Bowl" Flag Football Tournament!  The 7-team tournament will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Ranchos Del Sol Park, 1100 Ted Houghton Dr.
