The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association sadly announces the recent passing of retired Officer Clifford C. Gongaware #415, who passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2018 in Gulnare, Colorado at the age of 70.
(Ret.) Officer Gongaware served the El Paso community as a peace officer for 23+ years.

The autopsy of Richard Palafox, the man who died following an officer-involved shooting at the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center in October, states he was shot eight times.
"People are under this assumption that we can just stand back and shoot it out of their hand. that's not how we do it, said Ron Martin, president of the El Paso Municipal Police Officers Association.
A suspect was taken to University Medical Center after an officer-involved shooting in South-Central El Paso Wednesday night, police said.
Authorities said two officers fired at a man after a family disturbance was reported just after 8 p.m. on the 500 block of Huerta Street.
Police said the man charged at the officers with a knife.
