As a 30-year officer getting ready to retire, I can tell you that such talk makes me sick. I am quite frankly, scared to make ends meet after I leave the job.

The El Paso Police Department held a promotion ceremony on Monday, September 22, 2014 in the Chief’s Large Conference Room at Police Headquarters.  Although smaller than the last promotion ceremony held in June, those promoted, their family members, loved ones and co-workers were equally excited and in a celebratory mood.

On August 2, 2014, a team of current and retired El Paso Police Officers participated in the Inaugural “Badges vs. Badges” Shotgun Shootout. The event, a competition featuring members from local public safety agencies was held at the El Paso Skeet and Trap Club.

The 22-year-old man convicted in the crash that killed an El Paso police officer in 2010 is dropping his appeal, court records show. Alejandro Fierro "no longer wishes to pursue his appeal," according to a request filed by his attorney, Dolph Quijano, with the state's 8th Court of Appeals.
