Get Back to Basics - by Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith
Every morning in my email inbox I receive a summary of officer-involved shootings, vehicle crashes and other incidents involving police officer injury or death. Like most of you, I continue to feel frustrated as I read about the daily assault on American law enforcement.

CLEAT CORNER (More)
In December of 2011, I wrote an article about the services that CLEAT and your Board of Directors provides to you during and after critical incidents. Here's an article from the Amarillo Globe-News that explains their process and policies after an officer-involved shooting takes place.
The El Paso Municipal Police Officers' Association urges all members, if at all possible, to opt-in to the yearly Shared Leave Program. The open enrollment period to participate in the Shared Sick Leave Program (sworn officers) has started and will continue through February 17, 2012.
Please complete the attached form and submit it to Payroll before the deadline.
CHANGE IN STRESS MANAGEMENT PROVIDER

Critical Incidents 101
By CLEAT Staff Attorney Jim K. Jopling

EL PASO POLICE "THUNDER" finishes 3-2 in Border Patrol Flag Football Tournament
The El Paso Police Thunder participated in the 1st Annual Border Patrol "Turkey Bowl", an 8-on-8 Flag Football Tournament, benefiting the El Paso Sector Border Patrol Explorer Program.
