Dozens protest 'war on police' at EPPD Officer David Ortiz Park
Jul 27, 2020

Herlinda Ortiz reminded pro-police demonstrators of the sacrifice of her son and El Paso police officer David Ortiz who was murdered in 2016 by a reputed gang member.

The crowd had gathered last week in the parking lot of Officer David Ortiz Park, which was renamed in 2017 in honor of the fallen officer.

Ortiz, a nine-year veteran of the police force, died after being intentionally struck by a car while on his police motorcycle. His killer was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
