Memorial Tribute and Funeral Services for Police Chief Greg Allen

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association sadly announces the death of El Paso Police Chief Gregory K. Allen #646, who passed away on January 17, 2023, at the age of 71. Chief Allen served with the El Paso Police Department for 44+ years, from April of 1978, until his untimely death last week. Mr. Allen was Chief of Police for almost fifteen years, moving up through the ranks and being selected Chief after the retirement of now El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles. Chief Allen was the first African American police chief in El Paso.
Chief Gregory Allen graduated from Bel Air High School in 1969 and earned a sociology degree from the University Of Texas at El Paso.
After years of martial arts instruction, teaching, and training, he was inducted into the El Paso Boxing And Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1995.

Thursday, January 26, 2023:
-Memorial Tribute from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center. Doors will open at 5 PM. Parking at the Convention Center and the Union Plaza parking garage will be free of charge during the service.
Chief Allen will lie-in-state, to allow the public to pay their respects and there will be guest speakers paying tribute.
Friday, January 27, 2023:
Funeral services for Chief Allen will take place at 11:00 AM at Abundant Living Faith Center, 1000 Valley Crest Dr. Doors will open at 10:00 AM.
Following the funeral service, there will be a procession to Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Ave. Police Honors, including a three-volley salute, last radio call, and presentation of a U.S. flag to the family will take place at approximately 1:30 PM, followed by internment.
