"No Shave November" is a month-long event, where men do not shave their facial hair and donate the money spent on barber and shaving tools and gear for charity and to raise cancer awareness and awareness for other men's health issues.
El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen has given his approval for a No Shave November Event (to include uniformed personnel). The criteria are listed below:
1. A $25 donation must be made to any director of the EPMPOA prior to your participation. A list of participating officers kept by the EPMPOA to check eligibility is listed below. Money raised from this event will go to benefit the EPMPOA's Ernie Gomez Relief Fund, which per our Bylaws is used to help members in financial need.
2.The beard, mustache, goatee (or combination of those) must be neatly groomed.
3.No wild styling of facial hair is allowed, such as mutton chops or lettering (or designs) carved into your facial hair. Please use common sense.
4. Unfortunately, SWAT, CMT and BOMB SQUAD personnel are not allowed to participate due to the possible nature of their call outs.
This is a fund raising effort to aid officers who are in need of help and in no way alters or changes any standing policy or procedure, rule or regulation regarding grooming.
Chief Allen has extended participation for this fundraiser through the end of December. All participants are expected to be back to departmental standards (as currently written) on January 1, 2020. There will be no exceptions, unless your current duty assignment allows facial hair. Remember that we are professionals and regardless of this change for a month, we are expected to look professional.
