Location: 3800 Montana @ Lamar
Vehicle 1: 2018 Ford Interceptor, Marked Patrol Car Driver: Central Patrol Officer, a 29-year veteran
Vehicle 2: 2018 Yamaha FJR1300, Police Motorcycle Driver: Traffic Division Motor Officer, a 6-year veteran
An El Paso Police Officer assigned to the Traffic Division as a Motor Officer was hurt after being involved in a crash with a marked patrol car. At the time of the crash, both the Motor Officer and the Patrol Officer were responding to assist another Motor Officer that was on an unrelated call and needed assistance. Both units were responding with lights and sirens. The preliminary investigation by the Special Traffic Investigation Units suggests that the marked patrol car entered the intersection without completely clearing it and entered in front of the path of the Motor Officer. The Motor Officer was ejected from the motorcycle and received several injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment and was last listed in stable condition.
