The El Paso Municipal Police Officers’ Association held its annual picnic on Sunday, July 13 at Wet-N-Wild Waterworld. The picnic area was reserved for our members and their families, as well as for members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Officers Association, which also hosted its annual picnic there. Several members took advantage of the barbeque grills that were provided at no cost to them and cooked up the usual fare of hamburgers, hotdogs, steaks and other food responsible for some of the great tastes and smells at the water park.
Members and even some retirees were seen enjoying many of the water park’s attractions including the Amazon, Alien Vortex, The Blue Streak, The Blaster, The Super Slide, and the Raging Rapids. Our members’ children appeared to have a great time at the Wild Island Wave pool, the Old Lady & the Shoe slides and of course at the ever popular Little Rio Grande. Others took advantage of the volleyball courts for a friendly challenge. A few television sets were seen plugged in around the park as fans of Germany and Argentina’s national soccer teams caught the World Cup championship game.
If you were part of the crowd that made it out to this year’s picnic, thank you. We hope you had a great time, at least until the downpour (complete with thunder and lightning) came down! Be sure to tell your partners, co-workers and family members about it and make plans to join us again next year.
The EPMPOA will set aside some “anytime” tickets that will be for sale for $13 each, for those members who were unable to attend on Sunday (an e-mail will be sent out once tickets are available). Remember, these fun activities are provided for members to help build camaraderie, break bread together and get away from the stress of police work.
