"We Remember" Memorial Bicycle Trek Across Texas - In El Paso
Posted On: Apr 19, 2017

The El Paso Police Department along with the U.S. Border Patrol (El Paso Sector) will host the “We Remember” Memorial Bicycle Trek Across Texas on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Everyone is invited to participate with the Trek Riders for a bicycle ride beginning at 1:30 PM at Bill Burnett Dr. and Gateway West Blvd. (located between Eastlake and Joe Battle in far east El Paso).  The ride will proceed to the Police Department’s Pebble Hills Regional Command Center (estimated 8 miles ride).  Then, everyone is invited to attend a Remembrance Ceremony at the El Paso Police Academy, 2300 Scenic Dr., beginning at 5:30 PM.

The Memorial Trek riders have been riding across Texas, in honor of fallen Law Enforcement officers, since 1993.  They ride to each city that has lost an Officer the previous year and hold a “Remembrance Ceremony” in honor of that officer and his family and then ride onto the next location.

This year, in our area, the Memorial Trek riders are honoring El Paso Police Officer David Ortiz, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Joey Barraza, and U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Gomez.
