A jury found Facundo Chavez guilty of capital murder for the killing of El Paso County Sheriff's Deputy Peter Herrera.
The jury deliberated for about 40 minutes after hearing closing arguments Thursday morning. Chavez shot and killed
Herrera during a traffic stop in San Elizario on March 22, 2019. His sentencing will be on Friday at 9 a.m.
Chavez could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
